The Kingdom Father

The kingdom father is a responsible father, not just one who gave birth to a child and the child bears his name or his name is associated with the child. Anyone can put his seed into a woman, but to raise them up, catering for their wellbeing requires true fatherhood and that is where the Kingdom father comes into play. God gave an example of a kingdom father when He testified of Abraham, the father of faith in Genesis 18:17-19 saying, “…Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do; seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? for I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment…” Abraham did not only care for the physical needs of his seed but also nurtured them in the ways of the Lord. His entire household were patterned after the way of the Lord.

A kingdom father invests time in the upbringing of his children; he may not be as efficient as the mother of the house handles such responsibilities, but he makes effort in making his children know his voice, hear his command, feel his presence and know he loves them, He instils discipline and reveals his God to them so that they can follow suit. Don’t be a father who feels money can replace them in the home or a father who shifts all responsibility to his wife, thinking his only role is donating the seed that brought forth the child/children. A kingdom father leads the way for his household, both wife and children, including all in his home to follow; and that way is the way of the Lord. To leave this responsibility for another is to gradually lose your position as the man of the house.

I pray for you; you will not lose your place in the lives of your children as a true father. When your children speak of you, may it be words of commendation and not condemnation.
