The Light of the World

Apostle Johnson Suleman

Bible Text

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

Matthew 5:14

Devotional

Our opening text conspicuously lets us know that as believers we are the light of the world. It didn’t say we are the light of the Church, but rather of the world (cosmos). Cosmos is a Greek word which represents the world’s system. Jesus is the light of the Church; the Church is the light of the world. Just the way the moon reflects the light from the sun, so the believer is to reflect the glorious light that proceeds from Jesus.

The degree to which the moon is well positioned is what determines the degree to which it can radiate the light from the sun. This therefore is a good indicator of the major reasons why believers don’t seem to act as light of the world and world changers. God desires that we become light to the world and world changers; but only changed men can change the world. This therefore calls for a responsibility on your part to come into alignment with the ways of God and by so doing, change the world.

As you behold God’s word, you are transformed and that transformation reflects in the world. “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord” (2 Corinthians 3:18).

Prayer

My Father! My Father! As I begin to pray, make me a world changer in Jesus’ name.
