The Words of a Believer

The words of a believer should strengthen people and not pull them down, It should give people reason to hold on and not give up. Hence scripture says “Say ye to the righteous that it shall be well with him: For they shall eat the fruit of their doings” (Isaiah 3:10).

There are people who need encouragement to press on joyfully; your words of testimony of how God did it for you would lift up their faith. It would make them know their harvest time would also manifest in case they are yet to see the reward of their input in what they are doing. Let people look up to your words and love to have you around. Let them thank God to have known you because you will not allow them to drown in sorrow even if they are overtaken in a fault. With love and empathy, you will help to restore them on their feet again.

Galatians 6:1 says, “Brethren if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual restore such one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself least thou also be tempted.” Believers are not expected to be judgmental in their speech always condemning, downplaying people’s strength and exaggerating their weakness. It is better to be silent if you don’t have words that will lift up people than to add to their pains. Scriptures says in James 5:16, “confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another that ye may be healed…” because God expects His children to come to maturity on how to relate with one another in love. Hence it also says in Colossians 4:6, “Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.”
