Sin Alters Destiny 3

Child of God, in no way should you accommodate sin in your members. You are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, empowered over sin. So in no way, should you allow whatever would magnetize you to sin either your thought, words or action. Do not associate with friends who are so out to sin even if they are in sheep clothing. By the Spirit of God, you can tell them and by their fruit, you shall know them.

Hear me clearly; sin alters destiny. It changes the course of a man from good to bad, worse to worst. Just look at what our main text displayed about Reuben. Those were the words of his father Jacob to him. When he gathered all his children to tell them what would become of them when he was about to die. Such gatherings are known to be a time to release blessings on one’s seed. But for Reuben, the reverse was the case. Why? He gave himself to sin; for a temporary pleasure he altered his glorious destiny from that of excellency of dignity and power to one that is unstable as water and would not excel.

Rachel who was supposed to be alive and celebrate the birth of her second son as she prophesied when she gave birth to the first, lost her life in hard labour. Why? She gave herself to sin by stealing her father’s image (his gods) when Jacob departed from Laban with all he had. And unknown to Jacob he placed a curse of death on whoever was with the gods when Laban chased after him and accused him of stealing his gods. Though Rachel hid the gods and was not caught during the search, but words don’t die. They are spirit and life when they are good ones and spirit and death when they are bad ones. Rachel terminated her destiny because of sin.
