Sin Alters Destiny 4

God does not force His children to serve Him or obey His command. Even as He redeemed them unto Himself, He gave them the free will to choose to live and obey Him. To help them, He gave them His Holy Spirit to empower their choices in accordance with His will; but they also have to willingly submit to the Holy Spirit and ask for His help.

In Deuteronomy 28:1, God said to His people, “If thou shall hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God to observe and to do all His commandment which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth.” And in verses 2-13, He spelt out all the blessings that would be theirs and the dominion they would exercise over their enemies and other nations. In other words, their destiny would be glorious and enviable. And in verse 14 He said, “And thou shall not go outside of any of the word which I command thee this day, to the right hand or to the left to go after other gods to serve them.” To do so is to attract curses spelt out from verse 16 to several other verses.

The destiny of every child of God is a glorious one. 1 Corinthians 2:9 declares it. Jeremiah 29:11 declares, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” God has great plans for His children and has mapped out the path of life in righteousness for them to enjoy that glorious destiny. To give in to sin by going against the commandment of God, is to alter one’s glorious destiny by opening oneself to the curse of disobedience.
