Bible Text

And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Genesis 12:2-3

Devotional

Until you resolve to be a blessing, you will not know the favour of God. Men who are blessings to others enjoy the favour of God in a special way. God’s blessing is not for you to keep; it is for blessing others. Abraham fed and sustained other families; and I am sure, that contributed to heaven remembering him for fruitfulness. God made him fruitful on every side, and he became a typical example of divine favour. The Bible says, “And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold” (Genesis 13:2).

You are created to distribute, not to consume. Do not withhold your hand from the poor. The Bible says, “For you have the poor with you always…” (Matthew 26:11). It is God’s will that you affect people’s lives positively with your wealth. In the natural, for you to increase, you must gather but, in the kingdom, for you to increase, you must scatter by giving. The Bible says, “There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty” (Proverbs 11:24). Also, in Proverbs 11:25, it says, “The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.”

You are not truly blessed until you become a blessing. God is looking for men to display His favour and become outreaches to others. He blesses people so that they can become a blessing to others. Are you ready to enjoy such kind of favour? Then prepare your heart. God sees your heart and knows your stand.

Prayer

My Father! My Father! as I begin to pray, I position my heart to be a blessing to others.
